Built for speed

Built for speed

The finalists of today’s longboard competition experienced something they have not done in days. Downhill skating on dry asphalt!

Skaters from all over the world have gathered this week in Voss, and over 100 longboarders were lined up for today’s finals in Skjervet.

It all goes down hill from here

For the first time this week, the hairpin turns in Skjervet were dry, something that enabled the longboarders to keep a higher speed than in the previous days.

Head down on a rather tiny piece of wood the thrillseakers in this competition gained speeds up to 80 km/t down the hillside of Skjervet.

– The banked turns and steep downhill make this a very fast trial. It is not so technical, but even more speedy, says Adrian Paulsen, Head of Longboard.

Top three to Norway

The downhill race here at VEKO has attracted skaters from all over the world, and top international names like Patrick Switzer and Jackson Saphiera were on today’s start list. Yet being in the world’s top rank, they had to see themselves beaten by Norwegian vikings, and we are happy to announce that all three medals are safely kept within the country.

– Today’s race has been great. This is the biggest longboard contest ever held at VEKO. Over 130 skaters were on the start list, some of those were scared of by the rain. Still we had over 100 participants today and not to mention a very big crowd of spectators, says Paulsen.
