Ready, steady, go!
– To care about outdoor life in Norway is synonymous with caring about wild and beautiful nature. And that´s what Ekstremsportveko is all about, said Kristin Krohn Devold, Secretary General of DNT, at the opening of Ekstremsportveko 2011.
On Sunday 26th of June spectators at Prestegardslandet could witness a wild and
beautiful opening of Ekstremsportveko 2011.

Sports and culture
The opening started off with the long-established spectacular outdoor show performed by skydivers, paragliders, hanggliders og basejumpers in the air and bikers on the ground.
One of the tandem jumpers for the occasion was Kristin Krohn Devold, Secretary General of DNT (The Norwegian Trekking Association) who after the jump officially opened the festival inside the tent.
– Ekstremsportveko is a great contributor to show the growing up generations how Norwegian nature can be used and explored in the name of sports. Physical activity should be made exciting and inspiring for children and youths.
The message generated great applause from the audience. Young and old, locals and visitors met up to feel the atmosphere of Ekstremsportveko.
– Continue to participate in a variety of sports and outdoor life, and remember to care about the nature alongside the activities, was the request from Kristin Krohn Devold.
Firework of rhythms
Wild and beautiful is also a good description of the cultural opening show inside the festival tent.
The audience was lucky to witness young representatives from the work of KolibriCARF in Brazil perform acrobatic dance, capoeira and afrobreak, surrounded by colours, lights and sound. Joining them on stage were young dancers from Norway.
KolibriCARF exploded in a firework of rhythms – movement, music and lights.
