Head of the Game
One participant stood out in the H2H Kayak Women competition. Silje Skorve from Voss won the race without any difficulties.
Paddling through the streams there wasn’t a single hint of worry on her face. There was only one big smile.
–My strategy was to use all my strengths at the beginning of the route. If you take the lead early, it’s easier to keep the lead, she explained.
When she was 16 years old she took a beginner course in kayaking. The including environment in Voss kayak club made her elaborate her skills. She’s also active in cycling and rafting, but kayaking is her favorite sport.
–It’s a nice way to get out into the nature, Skorve said. She’s very content that there where as many as eleven female athletes.
Even if she grew up in Voss and therefore knows Strandaelva very well, she doesn’t know if it’s an advantage, as in the men`s contest there were no paddler from her local kayak club in the final. Fillippo Brunetti from Italy, who won the Brandseth Downhill contest on Thursday, was also in the final together with fellow Italian Thomas Waldner. Julian Stocker from Switzerland and Victor Legat from Check Republic were also fighting hard as they reached the last combat. Legat showed his mussels and won the Head2Head for men.
