Victorious local rafting teams

The men’s team from Voss Rafting Center and the women’s team from Voss Rafting Club were the winners of today’s European Cup in Sprint, Slalom and Head2Head.

According to Matt Clarkson, a team member from Voss Rafting Center, they could not be more happy about the results.

– For some years now we have ended up in second place. It’s nice to finally be back to first position, he admits.

Rafters from Dagali were strongly represented in this competition, as three of the six men’s teams where from Dagali.

– With so many teams from Dagali there are of course some local rivalry amongst us. Even if it feels good to win, the most important thing here in Voss is to get together and have fun, meet up with other people and party, Erlend Groven from Dagali Opplevelsessenter smiles.

Good conditions

The conditions here in Voss are perfect for a race. This river is wide, and it is not too technically challenging, which makes it is ideal for a fun competition, Groven points out.

Morten Falteng, also from Dagali, is probably the oldest participant. At the age of 50 he has been rafting for 20 years, and he has competed both nationally and internationally.

– I’ve never experienced any accidents, only a few bruises, he adds.

Live concert

During the break between the races, Eldbjørg Raknes, held an outdoor concert. Positioned on a cliff just above the river, the nearby water streams of Raundalselva played a big part of the act as the river accompanied her voice.

– It was a great experience to perform here today as the scenario here is impressive. The whole concert was improvised and it was all inspired by the surroundings here in Voss.

Two of the spectators, Vigdis and Stig, who are on holiday in Myrkdalen, drove over to Urdland to capture this experience

– We really enjoyed this. It’s an original mix of nature and music, they declared.
